Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sriracha or chili paste (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- Cooked rice or noodles for serving
Instructions:
- Prepare the Beef:
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the thinly sliced beef and cook until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
- Cook the Vegetables:
- In the same pan, add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the sliced bell peppers and cook for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
- Combine and Spice It Up:
- Return the beef to the pan with the vegetables.
- Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sriracha or chili paste, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until everything is well combined and heated through.
- Finish and Serve:
- Remove from heat and stir in the chopped cilantro.
- Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
